Financial Contributors

The estimated cost of Every 1 Reads at its outset was $16 million.  Through the Greater Louisville Inc. Education Taskforce, the business community committed to raising half of that cost - $8 million – with the balance coming from a reallocation of JCPS funds. A very aggressive campaign has continued since that time to fulfill this commitment.  Currently, Chuck Denny, CEO, National City Bank, is the community chairperson for this fundraising effort.  Many businesses, organizations, foundations and dedicated individuals have helped to raise $7.6 million with their generous contributions.

Businesses and Organizations Providing Four or More Volunteers

Another goal of the Every 1 Reads initiative is to recruit and train 10,000 volunteers to work one-on-one with struggling readers.  Over 150 businesses and organizations have stepped up to the plate to help with this goal by allowing at least four of their members to serve as volunteers.
